March 2010- Pecos got a set of shiny new cap-gun pistols and holster on a shopping spree at the local 5 & 10 store- Dooley's. I tried to tell him- in the famous words/lyrics of Johnny Cash- "don't take your guns to town". But he just wouldn't listen.
So off to Home Depot and he was on the lookout for bad guys. The picture angle doesn't show it, but this is a double holster set with 2 guns. Casey and Pecos wandered off to get something while I was checking out the paint colors. I don't know the exact details but I do know that Casey had one of the guns and came around a corner to get Pecos and nearly scared a lady to death. She didn't see Pecos and she certainly didn't know the gun was a toy and nearly had a heart attack thinking Casey was a disgruntled employee or customer about to go on a shooting spree. Geez, I can't take my boys anywhere!!!
See, Johnny Cash does have some truth and wisdom to share with us all.
the lucky man
March 17, 2010- Here's our little cowboy leprechaun. Pecos learned about leprechauns at school the week before St. Pat's Day when they were on the letter 'R' and talked about rainbows. So he told me it was St. Patrick's Day, Green Day and Lucky Man Day. What better way to start the day than with green pancakes!
Then a week later we had a storm blow through and left behind this rainbow. Pecos told me he had never seen a real rainbow and then said "I hope there is a Lucky Man on it!" I told him me too and I hope he has a pot of gold for me. For the next hour all he could talk about was going to look for that Lucky Man. Finally I told him if he ate all his supper we would ride down to the pasture and look for the Lucky Man. Of course he ate every bite and declared he was ready to go look for the Lucky Man. So we looked and looked and looked. I drove everywhere Pecos pointed and we even drove down the road a bit. Finally Pecos decided he must be gone and we'll find him next time. I'm still waiting for that pot of gold.
