dirty job

March 29, 2009- It was demolition day in the garden. We are expanding the garden and making it not quite as deep as before. Here is part of the reason to make it not as deep.
Pecos got his own garden tools to help out with the project.
Time for a refreshment break.
And at some point he decided it was time to ride bulls so here he is after getting bucked off.
We couldn't get it done all in one day so nothing is planted yet but we'll get it done soon.

newest member of the NRA

March 29, 2009- Say hello to the newest member of the NRA! Pecos is at that stage where his imagination runs wild and he comes up with the strangest things. Granted, most of it is a mix of what we say, what he hears from others, the books we read and everything he ever comes across. So for weeks now he has been telling us that he shot a big deer with his gun....he didn't have a gun. Then he started saying that he would hunt a bigger deer next time. And finally Casey said he would get him a gun. Casey told him this last Sunday and he left really early on Monday morning and didn't get home until Saturday night. Well, that was all it took for me to hear over and over, every day non-stop, for a week was that daddy would bring home a gun for Pecos. I guess I'm a bad mother because I told Casey he'd better not come home without one or there would be crying of epic proportions. As you can see Casey made it home with a new gun. The roosters and chickens are now target practice!!

casa de pollo

March 22, 2009- Pecos was helping Casey paint the chicken house today. To avoid paint on his pants I just stripped him down. How 'bout them legs?!?!?! Need to hire a painter- just give us a call!

playin' at the park

March 18, 2009- Mimi was here visiting for a few days and the main item on the agenda was to go pick strawberries. But I guess that was on everyone else's agenda too. It was spring break in the area so lots of families were visiting Fredericksburg and the orchard was overwhelmed with pickers and low on berries. So we went to the park to feed ducks instead. But there were no ducks so we fed the geese instead. Good thing we are so flexible and can adjust plans on a whim!!!

luck o' the pecos

March 17, 2009- Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Just thought we'd share a photo of Pecos all decked out in his green for the occasion. Although I take plenty of pictures of Pecos on an almost daily basis it has been a while since he had studio portraits done. So off we went to San Antonio to take some Easter pics and some in his everyday cowboy attire. Here's where I give my full endorsement to Portrait Innovations. They are a very fast, practical and affordable option for getting studio portraits done and we love everything we've ever taken there. I've included a few of the shots for you to enjoy. So enough of that- back to Pecos. MiMi is here to visit for a few days and Pecos is extremely excited. We have four days of fun planned so stay tuned for more pictures. Happy Green Day!!!

it’s dark in here

March 9, 2009- Pecos was helping Casey clean up around the shop and he found this empty feed sack which he decided would be best placed on his head. I promise this is not a staged photo….it is just Pecos goofing off as usual. And now for a chicken update…you will notice in the photos that our chickens now qualify as "free-range" and Jim Bob and Denis are each busy trying to establish their own little harem of chickens.

krewe of pecos

March 2, 2009- Pecos is enjoying some belated Mardi Gras revelry on a Monday so I guess that would make it Lundi Gras! But wait, it is Lent so he shouldn't be doing any celebrating....since he is only 2 I think he is exempt. Uncle Eric was a little concerned that Pecos didn't have many beads or other trinkets to celebrate with on actual Mardi Gras day, so he sent a very generous shipment of the various beads, baubles and trinkets he collected during this year's festivities. Pecos has had fun wearing the beads and then moving them around from room to room as he has his own Krewe of Pecos parade. Before he is done the roosters, chickens, cats and horses may all be wearing something. Throw me something, Mister!!!
