these boots were made for brazos

June 2012- Brazos got his first pair of handmade boots for his 2nd birthday.  Pecos got his first pair from the same boot maker for his 2nd birthday.  And in trying to be fair and equal we felt it was the perfect time for Brazos to get his first pair too.

Although we didn't custom order them we feel they were made just for him.

When Casey went to the boot maker in Lubbock he didn't know what they would have in stock and we didn't have time to custom order a pair.  The store has odd hours and he had tried to stop in a few times prior to this visit but they were never open or in typical Casey travel mode he passed through in the wee hours of the morning.  Back in April he was making his last trip through that area before Brazos' birthday.  He called to check their hours to be sure someone would be there.  He explained his situation and they even offered for him to call on their cell phone and they'd come up to the store for him.

When he arrived they didn't have very many pairs that passed Casey's approval.  {Think Spider Man webbed stitching.}

Casey called me from the store and the conversation went something like this:
Casey: Did you get the picture I texted you?
Me: No. What do they have?
Casey: Well, there is really only two pair here that are his size that I'm okay with getting.
Me: Okay, what do they look like?
Casey: Look at the picture.
Me: I didn't get the picture!
Casey: Well, both have brown smooth leather bottoms with square toes and the stitching that I like.  One has light colored tops with a longhorn cutout, just like Pecos' pair.  Do you think we should get those so they kind of both have the same thing?
Me: Well, what is the other option?
Casey: They are kind of wild.  Bright orange and red with green cactus inlays.
Me: (As I'm thinking of neon colors). Hmmm, do they look girly since they are bright colored?
Casey: No, of course not.  Do you really think I'd let our boys wear boots that might look girly?
Me: (Duh, of course not, what was I thinking?) Okay, I guess those would be fine.
Casey: Good, because I really think his first pair of handmade boots should match his personality, and these are kind of wild, just like him.

And that my friends is how Brazos ended up with this wild pair of boots.
