April 5, 2009- Oh, what fun- Pecos' first Easter Egg Hunt where he was an active and excited participant. (Last year he was more concerned that he had a basket than what to actually do with the basket.) The annual St. Anthony Catholic Church Easter Egg Hunt was last Sunday afternoon. Pecos didn't quite know what would happen when we told him about it but he sure was excited. And hands down, the best part of the event for Pecos was the baby chicks given away to all participants. Forget hunting eggs, he is all about expanding his chicken operation.

And they're off!
He was very choosy with which egg he selected for his basket, so needless to say he was not in the running for the prize for most eggs. His goal was quality, not quantity.
Here are the two chicks that were lucky enough to go home with Pecos. Their names are Perch and Blackie. Yes, that really is a Church's Fried Chicken box provided for transport. How funny is that?
Pecos was so proud of his two new chicks but not as eager to hold them as some of the other attendees. He has since overcome the anxiety and constantly wants to catch one.
And he was so excited about his two new chicks that we had to get the colored ones at the feed store to add to the flock. Really though, it is just a way for me to live vicariously through Pecos because my parents never let me have colored chicks when I was a kid.
