kindergarten {the redshirt year}

August 27, 2012-   The first day of Kindergarten was a bit easier to cope with this year- for all of us.  We decided very early last year that since Pecos had an August birthday and was nearly 18 months younger than some of the students, that another year would be best.  He was excited to go back to school and eager to make new friends.  

We're happy with our decision to give him another year with kids that are closer in age to have fun in Kindergarten.  This is socially referred to as academic redshirting.  We call it common sense.

We are so fortunate that Pecos is in a class with so many kids that he knows from Pre-K, church and t-ball.  He even ended up sharing a desk with his best bud, Dawson.

Pecos and Dawson...hope they don't get into trouble together.  Dawson is right next to Pecos at the end of the alphabet so unless other 'W' kids enroll in Harper school they'll still be sitting together at graduation in 2025.  He is such a great kid from a sweet family so I couldn't be any happier about that.

But Mrs. Randle said we couldn't stay, so Pecos gave us a hug and we were on our way.  {With just a few tears shed by me.}
