rice {crispy}

August 2012-  At the end of this road is a field where they harvest rice.

Except on this day it didn't go quite as planned.

This brand new combine had burned up just before we arrived.  

What a sad sight to see.

It had a full tank of diesel (probably 300 gallons) which contributed to such a large fire.

Even the tires burned up.

A total loss.

How sad.

At the time we were there they thought it might have been a bearing that went out and started the fire.

The insurance company was notified and a replacement combine was promised by week's end.

This is was the cab, still smoldering.

And yes, they did have a fire extinguisher on board but the fire was too far gone by the time they noticed it.
